I just got a Viewsonic VP2770 monitor. Its maximal resolution for either DVI or Display Port is 2560x1440, and I'd like to set that. However, my current laptop is old, and doesn't have neither DVI nor DP (I'm using it right now with a D-Sub connector at 2048x1152).

Notes
- Sleep functionality doesn't work out-of-the-box - haven't got it going yet, but haven't spent much time on it. Hibernate works o-o-t-b.
- Modem required installation of slmodem package - aptitude install sl-modem-daemon - after which it worked without configuration... Just started the Ubuntu network configuration software and there it was.
- Added the M3N wireless module (internal Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG), booted, and there it was in the network configuration app - no configuration needed. Might require a second reboot after first configuration to ensure correct firmware is inserted...
- Sat down a few nights ago and figured out how to configure Xinerama (dual headed display - extended desktop) with the i810 graphics system and Xorg. The following is my xorg.conf:
Works great with both my ViewSonic E95 and my Philips 109s40 monitors. Both run at 1024x768 - not sure if different resolutions between the LCD and external monitors are either possible or desirable...

I recently acquired a ViewSonic VP2330wb monitor. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get linux configured to use the full width of the monitor (up to 1920x1200). I have tried several different resolutions (1920x1200, 1440x900, 1280x800), several different configurations of the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file where I set the resolution by hand in the file, choosing different configurations of the 'Monitor Type' in the 'System Setting'->'Display'->'Hardware' menu. It appears that I can't get linux configured for this aspect ratio. In the 'System Setting'->'Display'->'Setting' none of the resolutions listed have the correct aspect ratio. The video card is an Intel Corporation 82915G/910GL Express Chipset Family Graphics Controller. I'm using the Intel 915 driver. This is all running on RedHat Linux Enterprise 4 on an IBM Think Center MT-M 8104. I'm basically out of ideas for how to get this to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-in-advance,
Jerry
P.S. I'm new to this group so I apologize ahead of time if I miss something obvious.
